Visual Artist, Producer and Singer-Songwriter
REE is a 20 year old artist with roots deep within Fiji, Croatia and Uganda. An artist living and working on the traditional lands of the Yorta Yorta people. Born in Australia, she grew up in Uganda before moving back to Shepparton in late 2014. Ree works across various mediums including visual art, performance, song-writing, music production and programming. She is passionate about working with her community and forming creative expressions through all types of music and art.
Ree is a young Fijian-Croatian woman who was exposed to a wide variety of different cultures from a young age through her mother’s missionary work in Brisbane. Ree also lived in Uganda for some time, where she learned to cook things like nsenene (grasshopper) and fufu with her grandparents.
Submerged presents two unique responses to the experience of being ‘othered’ as women of colour, and the importance of defining your own value. Ree’s works look to external representations of the physical body to reconsider white beauty standards, by centering Afrocentric beauty and solidarity.

Inspired by her transglobal upbringing and ancestral roots, Ree Peric will lead a journey from the Island of Fiji to Uganda in central Africa, landing in Shepparton. Guests will be welcomed with a traditional kava ceremony followed by a meal of tasty, traditional dishes drawn from Ree’s childhood in Uganda. Bringing it home, she will screen a series of short videos that take a peek into the kitchens of some of her friends and family living here in Shepparton.
