Victoria Chiu

Choreographer

Victoria Chiu trained at the VCA, Melbourne. She performed and toured extensively with Cie Nomades, Cie Gilles Jobin, Micha Purucker, Jozsef Trefeli, Fiona Malone, Bernadette Walong, with Australian Dance Theatre for Superstars of Dance. She co-created ‘Starstruck’ and ‘The Ballad of Herbie Cox’. Victoria was Dancehouse Housemate XI creating ‘Floored’, then, ‘Do You Speak Chinese?’ which premiered for Malthouse season for Dance Massive 2015. Victoria choreographed ‘Fire Monkey’ with Arts Fission, Singapore and ‘Grotto’ for AsiaTOPA, ‘Viral’, for PPY Sydney Dance Company and performed ‘What Happened in Shanghai’ in Shanghai and Melbourne. Currently she is working on international collaboration ‘Genetrix’ with Cie Jozsef Trefeli. She has appeared in digital VR and AR works by Cie Gilles Jobin in Sundance Film Festival and Venice Biennale. Victoria’s practice investigates physicalising concepts in relation to histories of self, peoples and place.
