M.A.D Fest is back for another year with Connection Arts Space.

A festival of Music, Arts and Dance will be held at Memorial Hall, Dandenong on Saturday 14 October.

MAD Festival is hosted by Connection Arts Space, a community-focused arts organisation based in the City of Greater Dandenong. Since 2015, CAS has been run by a diverse team of passionate volunteers who share a belief in the power of art and community connection

Taga Barrio

Multidisciplinary Artist

TAGA BARRIO (Larra Juab) is a queer Filipino immigrant, multidisciplinary artist that has been residing and creating work in the land of the Kulin Nation for 11 years. As an immigrant, they have found solace and a feeling of belonging here in the SE Suburbs of Naarm (Melbourne) and is continually working hard to create, and discuss topics such as; Identity, Belonging, Post-colonialism and Community through the use of arts through different forms and mediums. Taga Barrio shares their experiences and point of views through storytelling by the use of painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, printing and spoken word poetry. They make sure to always incorporate their heritage and language through these works.

Larra Juab is a queer Filipino immigrant, multidisciplinary artist who goes by the name TAGA BARRIO, has been residing and creating work in the land of the Kulin Nation for 10 years. As an immigrant, she has found solace and a feeling of belonging here in the SE Suburbs of Melbourne and is continually working hard to create, and discuss topics such as; Identity, Belonging, Post-colonialism and Community through the use of arts through different forms and mediums. Larra also prides herself for being a Community Arts Leader, as she is the Director of Connection Arts Space (CAS). Which is a non-for-profit community-centred arts organisation based in the City of Greater Dandenong. Run by a diverse team of passionate volunteers who share a belief in the power of art and community connection. Based in the most diverse municipality in Australia, CAS prioritises artists from under-represented communities such as; BIPOC, Immigrants, Refugees, Linguistically and Culturally diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ and Disabled to have more space and opportunity in the arts and community. Through exhibitions, art workshops, and collaborative projects, CAS provides opportunities for local artists and art lovers to share story, create connections, and challenge traditional ways of thinking.
