MAV’s NEWPRINT supported artists of colour living in outer urban and regional areas, showcasing contemporary live music programming and events in 4 outer-urban and regional LGAs (Local Government Areas) of Wyndham, Melton, Dandenong and Shepparton.
Over 15 months from May 2021 – August 2022, NEWPRINT engaged 2 local artists of colour (Producers) in each LGA to curate, produce and market a series of contemporary live music events in their local areas.
The Shepparton NEWPRINT series at Shingo’s Lounge on Friday 1 April, produced by Kush Tut saw a stunning all-female line up of local Shepparton and Melbourne based talents. The Soul Sessions was a night of soul, rnb and gospel originals and covers featuring Ree, Jacki Tut, Cheryl Simaika and Tyra Lewis.
Soul sessions was SOLD OUT and saw regional audiences enjoy contemporary live music on their doorstep.
Funded by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria. NEWPRINT is part of On the Road Again, a Victorian Government initiative to bring live music back to Victoria.
