Andy Butler brings new perspectives to Emerge in Yarra 2019

MULTICULTURAL ARTS VICTORIA IS DELIGHTED TO HAVE ANDY BUTLER ON THE PROGRAMMING TEAM FOR EMERGE IN YARRA 2019!

Emerge in Yarra will be presented as a two day mini festival at Melba Spiegeltent and Schoolhouse Studios Collingwood from 18-19 October. Andy Butler has programmed On Power, a series of events for POC artists which aims to examine ways they might come together to amplify and support the voices of those around them, and how art can help make sense of a world that is rapidly shifting.

Andy Butler is a writer, curator and artist. His writing on art and politics has been published in The Monthly, The Saturday Paper, Art+Australia, Overland and in publications for major visual arts institutions. He has curated exhibitions at artist-led and public galleries, and exhibited his own work at galleries including c3 contemporary art space, Footscray Community Art Centre and the Substation. Andy has spoken or read his work at Melbourne Writers Festival, Emerging Writers Festival, Jakarta Writer’s Series, Critical Animals, The Wheeler Centre and more. In 2017 he participated in FCAC’s Emerging Cultural Leaders program. He is a current participant in Next Wave’s kickstart program, and a recipient of a 2019 Asialink Residency. Andy sits on the board of SEVENTH Gallery and is a co-director of Mailbox Art Space.
