On 18 Oct (Thu), the roof at South Melbourne Town Hall (home to MAV), collapsed and caused three levels of ceiling to come down followed by extensive flooding from a burst water pipe in the ceiling. City of Port Phillip staff pumped 12,000 litres of water out of the building. Thankfully no one was injured.
The entire building, which MAV, ANAM and other organisations lease from the City of Port Phillip, was evacuated and has been closed since the incident.
MAV is currently packing up the whole office, including archival documents and artwork, and will be relocating to a smaller work space at the South Melbourne Town Hall within the next two weeks.
It is a busy time for MAV, as we prepare for State of Culture, MAV Fundraiser, Mapping Melbourne 2018 and other events, as well as continuing to provide our brokerage and artist services in the midst of packing, moving and limited access to files and computers.
Please contact us via email: at office@multiculturalarts.com.au if the matter is urgent, as our phone lines are not functioning, and we will get back in touch as soon as possible.
Please follow our social media and website for MAV updates.
