MAV Update: COVID-19

During the current situation of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus), MAV will continue to work as a team to support our artists and communities.

Following the recent impact of the bushfires, the pandemic has led to the cancellation and postponement of hundreds of projects, concerts, conferences, events and festivals across Australia and across the world.

MAV is acutely aware of the situation for artists whose creative practices and incomes are being severely impacted by COVID-19.

As well as the devastating impact on artists’ livelihoods, the isolation is likely to have a far-reaching effect on individuals’ mental health and wellbeing.

ARE YOU AN ARTIST OR ARTS WORKER? HERE ARE SOME WAYS THAT MAY ASSIST YOU AT THIS CRITICAL TIME.

HOW YOU CAN HELP ARTISTS

This is the opportunity for you to use the MAV Donate option to directly support culturally diverse artists, many of whom are experiencing significant financial hardship as a result of lost income.

MAV is committed to ensuring that any donations go directly to artists in the form of financial support. Please help us to support our community of artists during these challenging times.

INNER NORTH COMMUNITY COVID-19 FUND

The fund set up by the Inner North Community Foundation enables you to do something to support the Inner North community through these tough times.

Make sure that the most vulnerable people in Darebin, Moreland and Yarra get help. Giving will soften the impacts of Covid-19 already hitting many in our community. Your donation will enable:

  • Emergency relief vouchers for families to buy essentials from local traders.
  • Rapid Response grants for not for profit community groups to respond in flexible and creative ways.
  • Pathways to Employment projects that support people in our community impacted by Covid-19.

THEATRE NETWORK AUSTRALIA | 1000 X 1000: CRISIS CASH FOR ARTISTS

MAV is supporting Theatre Network Australia’s fundraising campaign 1000×1000 Crisis Cash for Artists

We know that many artists will not be able to access government support as a result of the short term contract nature of arts gigs. They will not meet the criteria of 12 months employment with one employer. This fund is essential for those at risk of falling through the cracks.

If you are in a position to donate, please consider giving to this campaign.
