NEWPRINT Visual Identity by Karena Bravo.

From 5 Dec 2021

MAV’s latest program NEWPRINT is all about supporting young artists of colour living in outer urban and regional areas.

What do Wyndham, Melton, Shepparton, and Dandenong have in common?
They are home to some of the hottest emerging music scenes right now 🔥

That means two artists from each area will curate, produce, and market at least four contemporary live music events to fire up their local scenes!

These visionaries have already been leading their own creative movements and we’re thrilled to be able to support their ideas for an even greater future.

From December 2021 to May 2022, the NEWPRINT revolution will be:
🔥 Showcasing fresh talent
🔥 Building communities
🔥 Growing local audiences
🔥 Throwing sick events

We’ll also be partnering up with local arts and community teams to cultivate processes that centre the next generation of artists and their audiences.

The Producers came up with the name NEWPRINT as a spin-off from the word “blueprint”. A blueprint is a guide for making something that can be followed. So NEWPRINT is a new guide for and by people of colour to map out a new way of storytelling and doing things.

NEWPRINT will challenge the mainstream and old ways of the music industry which privileges white artists and genres.
