Artist Statement

“Barricaded In is a spoken word piece I wrote describing the treatment of the residents of the 9 towers lockdown.

I want people to feel the frustration and anger the residents had towards the treatment they were enduring by police and the government and also

understand that what was done had violated their basic rights.

The purpose is to remind people of the unjust measure shown to the residents but also about the community and strength they had to overcome the situations they were put through.”
