Artist Statement
FlatMates was collated as a response to the 9-tower lockdown of 2020 in North Melbourne and Flemington. FlatMates aims to not dwell on the emotional and psychological stress that resonated with the residents of the towers, but to shine a light on the strength and resilience of the community.

Khalid is a Melbourne-based freelance storyteller and content creator with a background in Media & Communication from Swinburne University. Passionate about collaboration and storytelling, he aims to assemble a diverse film crew to share stories of culture, identity, and migration while mentoring youth and fostering connections among fellow artists.
