The Hot Brown Honeys are on the lookout for multidisciplinary creatives to ensemble for their Hive City Legacy project. Are you:

  • 18 to 35 years old?

  • Femme and BIPOC-identifying?

  • Residing in Naarm?

You might be a singer, circus artist, spoken word poet, writer, dancer, music-maker, burlesque artist, comedian, dramatic actor or performance artist. This is an opportunity to learn, collaborate and celebrate. Expressions of interest to join an ensemble of storytellers and performers closes Friday, 14 February.

Using the arts as a tool for transformation the Hive City Legacy project is a guided, collaborative, intersectional process driven production that responds to the global conversations about race, gender, identity, body image, decolonisation and more. This project is for artists interested in multidisciplinary creative expressions of joy, rage and radical fierce love. The ensemble will be creating with artists from different disciplines and experimenting under the direction of The Hot Brown Honeys.


THE SELECTION PROCESS:

The project is a paid opportunity for six collaborating/performing artists selected via an online submission and interview process. Seeking submissions from BIPOC Femmes who are singers, circus artists, spoken word poets, writers, dancers, music makers, burlesque performers, comedians, theatre makers, actors and other performing artists. Multidisciplinary artists are especially encouraged to apply.

Contract: 5 weeks / 4days per week (hours pertaining to).

Payment: LPA rates – $960.00 pw/$4,800.00 total per artist.

Created by Hot Brown Honey Co-Creative Directors Lisa Fa’alafi and Kim ‘Busty Beatz’ Bowers with Int'l Honey Yami ‘Rowdy Löfvenberg (UK), the Hive City Legacy Project is collaborative and intersectional, addressing the global conversation around race, gender, identity, body image, decolonisation and more - while deconstructing, redefining, reimagining and making fun of the personal and political structures around us.The project has occurred in London and Dublin - now it is Naarm’s turn.

In partnership with MAV and Quiet Riot, the Hive City Legacy is a space for skill-sharing, mentoring, professional development, collective collaboration and courageous art-making.
