Bundjalung artist Shanikwa, is an ethereal songwriter with stories to tell and a voice to make you spellbound. She embodies a magic that carries ancestral wisdom with a next generation perspective.
A past supporting act for local superstar Yorta Yorta/Gunditjmara man Isaiah Firebrace in Shepparton, Shanikwa is grounded in her culture and influenced by iconic Indigenous artists such as Electric Fields, Charlie Needs Braces, Mo’ju and her own father rapper BrickyB.
Shanikwa has contributed to the Duniya Behter project by creating a song called “Window Seat” about her experience during COVID. Her voice gently dances with beautiful harmonies over an acoustic guitar and percussion based song in this stunning debut.
