Meet the 5 Producers Selected for NEWPRINT 3—Ready to Transform Live Events

MAV’s NEWPRINT program has unveiled the latest cohort of hand-picked producers from across Naarm

Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) is thrilled to announce the five outstanding producers selected for the NEWPRINT 3 program! Selected by industry veterans thndo, N’fa Jones, Neda Rahmani and Kily Safari, we’re welcoming five incredible producers from across Naarm/Melbourne with talents and experience across multiple areas in the music and arts industry. Meet the producers below:

URLIK MAGEZA & MOZ

Urlik Mageza is a dynamic force in Melbourne's artistic scene, seamlessly blending the realms of music, dance, acting, and modelling into a captivating tapestry of creativity. With a soulful voice and a talent for crafting evocative lyrics, Urlik has established himself as a notable singer-songwriter, captivating audiences with his heartfelt melodies and infectious rhythms.

In his two years in the industry, Urlik has already left an indelible mark, releasing five compelling singles that have resonated with listeners across diverse audiences. His performances have graced some of Melbourne's most iconic stages and venues, including the NGV, Melbourne Theatre House, Federation Square and The Evelyn Hotel, where his magnetic presence and electrifying performances have left audiences spellbound.

With a steadfast determination to break through musical barriers, Urlik's artistic vision transcends mere entertainment; it is a platform to share his culture, experiences, and stories with the world. Through his music and art, Urlik strives to foster connections, inspire change, and leave an enduring legacy that resonates far beyond the stage.

Moses ‘Moz’ Ndisa, a dynamic artist from Melbourne, is celebrated for his electrifying Afro dance performances, having graced the stage alongside major African stars like Rema, Kizz Daniel, and Omah Lay. These performances have taken place at iconic venues such as Festival Hall and The Margaret Court Arena, as well as popular local spots like Billboards and The Doha. Recently, Moz collaborated with a well-known yearly celebrated festival called the Promiseland which features household artists such as Busta Rhymes, Jorja Smith, Miguel and many more internationally recognisable names.  

Now venturing into music, Moz has made his mark with three features on Apple Music and Spotify, amassing over a thousand listeners in July. With an upcoming collective project featuring Baraka the Kid and other artists from Geelong and Melbourne in October, and an EP with Urlik Mageza slated for December, Moz is set to further establish himself as a versatile and evolving talent in both dance and music.  

HAJA KAMARA

Hajaratu Kamara, an upcoming event producer of Sierra Leonean heritage, is making her mark in Melbourne’s events industry. Specialising in marketing, administration, and dance, she has contributed to major events like RIDDIM and the Amari Gala. Her experience extends to corporate events, notably with brands like Puma, showcasing her promotional expertise. Hajaratu’s journey includes roles in prominent nightclubs like 333 and Caramel Sundays, where she gained hands-on experience in event coordination and audience engagement.

Guided by mentors like Olivier Permal, a BIPOC nightclub owner, Hajaratu has developed her passion for empowering ethnic women in CALD and IBPOC communities. A two-time Caramel Sundays “You Got Served” dance champion, performed shows alongside international artists for Buju, King Promise, Omah Lay & Rema. Now, she’s focused on creating immersive events that celebrate collaborations between local dancers and musicians, spotlighting underrepresented talent in Melbourne’s vibrant cultural scene.

JUAN PABLO SALEBE RICO

Juan is a Colombian native now based in Melbourne, deeply passionate about the entertainment and music industry. Through the NP3 program, he aims to launch his own booking agency, further expanding his influence in the industry.

He has studied music production, contemporary music, and entertainment management. His career has embraced various roles, and he is a co-creator of the Colombian Latin pop band Pal Mar, based in Melbourne. With a strong focus on creativity and collaboration, Juan thrives on working with diverse teams to bring innovative ideas to life. Always seeking new challenges, he aims to grow both personally and professionally.

As a guitarist and producer, Juan has cultivated a unique artistic vision that reflects his multicultural background. Juan looks forward to the journey ahead and the chance to make a lasting impact in the community.

AKWAL MAGEK

Akwal Magek (pronounced “Ak-uo-wal”) is a vibrant force in the realm of storytelling, a multidisciplinary artist who uses poetry and spoken word to explore the themes of identity and self-love.

She has a remarkable talent for blending spoken word and playwriting to paint vivid worlds of imagery with words. Her work encourages us to re-evaluate the confines that shape our perspectives and question prevailing paradigms of beauty and thought.

Akwal began her journey as a creative facilitator in Melbourne's western suburbs, bringing with her a genuine dose of west-side credibility. Her creative spirit thrives in spaces that encourage self-expression, and she’s dedicated to helping others access these creative spaces, supporting them as they unlock their potential and explore new avenues of self-expression.

With a particular passion for working with young people, Akwal finds joy in nurturing their creative exploration and helping them find their authentic voices. In her world, authenticity is everything, and she’s constantly asking one simple but powerful question: "Why?"

MIMI ‘SRIRACHI’ BUI

Mimi, better known as ‘SRIRACHI’, is a performance artist and event producer with a bold, experimental style that defies easy categorisation. Her productions, inspired by everything from street art to avant-garde theatre, have garnered attention for their daring aesthetics and engaging narratives. As a previous NEWPRINT producer, Mimi hopes to further refine her brand, expand her reach, and explore collaborations that bring new energy to Melbourne’s live music scene.
