Announcing the Elected Board Directors for 2024
The MAV Board are pleased to announce Effie Nkrumah, Daizy Maan, Neda Rahmani and Sandeep Agrawal as elected Board Directors for 2024.
Following MAV’s Annual General Meeting 2024, held on Tuesday, 28 May at Elaine Forde Lecture Theatre at Melbourne Polytechnic Preston, the MAV Board are delighted to announce the results of the Board Election.

Effie Nkrumah is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and performer of Ghanaian descent, raised on Gadigal and Darug lands. Her notable works include performing as a swing in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, contributing to Maxine Beneba Clarke’s Growing Up African anthology, and founding the slow-fashion brand Keziah Jemima. With an MA in Arts Politics from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Effie is an advocate for diverse representation in the arts and media. She is committed to helping those at complex intersections of identity find grounding, pride, and curiosity.
Neda Rahmani is the entrepreneur and co-founder of Goodworthy, a social impact media company. An established cultural leader, Neda’s practice embodies inclusion, equity, and justice. Her directorial experiences, investment in capacity building with diverse youth, and skilled facilitation of intercultural dialogue place her work at the nexus of transformation. Her projects serve as sites of resistance, engaging audiences in profound conversations about multiculturalism, and challenge preconceptions of art and artists. Neda previously served as Deputy Chair of MAV’s Board.
Sandeep Agrawal has served as the MAV Board Treasurer. He is an auditor and regulatory compliance specialist in the financial services sector, providing audit, advisory, and consulting services to corporates and non-profits. Sandeep assists executive management and Boards with financial reporting and compliance obligations.
Daizy Maan is a curator, speaker and advocate. A founder of the Australian South Asian Centre, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to empowering Indian and South Asian women creatives and founders. Recently, Daizy produced, marketed and performed in Brown Women Comedy in the 2024 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Daizy has served on multiple board including CSX:NSX, and led startup programs at Deakin University and University of Melbourne. Recognised as one of the most influential South Asian Women by AWF Power List, her impactful work has been featured on SBS and ABC.
Effie, Neda, Sandeep, and Daizy have been elected to serve a 3-year term as MAV Board Directors.
Ayesha Bux, Amarantha Robinson, Aditi Razdan, Michael van Vliet and Srini Srinivasan have ended their terms with the board at the AGM. We thank them for their contributions as directors, office bearers and passionate arts advocates. Special thanks to Michael van Vliet for his extraordinary service and commitment to MAV over nine years, including five as Chair, and to Srini Srinivasan for his 12 years of association with MAV and six years on the board. Their long service has made a lasting impact.
With 22 nominees, this was the largest Board Election MAV has held in recent memory.
