Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV) is grateful to continue its vital work supporting diverse music creators with a new wave of funding from the Victorian Government’s $3.9 million investment in the live music industry. As part of this funding, MAV will deliver the third iteration of our innovative NEWPRINT program, designed to nurture and showcase locally curated, contemporary live music events across Victoria.

NEWPRINT, led by IBPOC* and/or CALD* identifying producers, plays a vital role in bridging the gap between the music industry and culturally diverse artists. Since its inception in 2021, the program has been a springboard for emerging producers and has highlighted some of the most exciting musical talents across the state.

With the support of this funding, MAV will continue to offer mentorship, connections, and funding to producers throughout 2025, supporting their visions and bringing their unique events to life. The most recent round of Expressions of Interest for producers closed on September 9th, with selected producers to be announced soon.

In addition to MAV, this round of funding supports 144 live music venues, 22 festivals, and several artist development programs, ensuring that Victoria’s live music scene remains vibrant and inclusive. With nearly $13 million invested over the past nine years through the Music Works program, this latest boost solidifies the government’s commitment to a diverse and sustainable music ecology.

NEWPRINT reflects MAV’s commitment to providing artists and creative workers from IBPOC and CALD communities with professional development and live performance opportunities, celebrating and contributing to Victoria’s rich cultural diversity.
