Diasporas: Artist Call Out

We’re thrilled to announce the next DIASPORAS event and exhibition, led by MzRizk!

Expression of Interest is now open for IBPOC-identifying visual artists and performers with existing work that they would like to showcase for this two-day event in the heart of Naarm.

DIASPORAS is a MAV program created for, by and with IBPOC* creatives. It aims to disrupt old systems and empower diverse artists to showcase works, build networks, and evolve the arts ecology toward a more representative place. Never has it been more important for the voices of Indigenous, Black and People of Colour to tell their own stories, on their own terms.

Recognised as one of Naarm’s leading event producers, DJs and culture innovators, MzRizk is curating the artistic line up and program for DIASPORAS 3. The exhibition and event will be held at Arts Centre Melbourne over two days in December.

Expression of Interest is now open for IBPOC-identifying visual artists and performers with existing work that they would like to showcase for this event.

The selected artists will be paid an exhibiting fee and/or a production budget.

To submit your expression of interest, let us know in 300 words or so:

  • Tell us about your background and artistic practice?

  • What are you presenting, and how will it be presented?

  • How does your work engage with themes of cultural identity, diversity, or social change?

Please email your answer, and any relevant links to the work or your previous work, to programs@mav.org.au, with “EOI: DIASPORAS 3” as the subject line by 10AM AEST on Monday, 2 September 2024.

If you have any questions, please email Tea on theresa@mav.org.au. Video submissions are also welcome.

*IBPOC = People who identify as Indigenous, Black, Person of Colour
