MAV joins a Climate Union!
A Climate For Art (ACFA) is a campaign working towards the collectivisation of climate response through bringing small to medium arts organisations together over three core actions - switching to fossil fuel-free banks, superannuation and power providers.
MAV has signed the pledge and proudly join the coalition of organisations prioritising the urgent response towards this climate crisis.
With unpredictable and extreme weather impacting the livelihoods and wellbeing of local and global communities, we recognise the disproportionate impact the climate emergency has on First Nations peoples, marginalised communities, refugees and women.
MAV was proud to support the launch of A Climate For Art as part of our Diasporas commissioning program. We are committed to demonstrating support for impacted communities experiencing climate displacement and advocate for action informed by land-based knowledge and practices.
We're hiring! Are you our next Creative Lead? We're seeking a culturally-responsive producer with passion and purpose.
The Creative Lead will drive the development and execution of creative programmes that reflect the artistic needs and aspirations of MAV's community.
Drawing on the expertise and skills in creative producing, co-designing, and facilitating programs, the Creative Lead will ensure quality and the artist experience is central to bold and compelling work across the state.
If you have experience as a producer working with community, please see the position description for the full-time role below.
A charismatic and inspiring leader, Stefan joined the Board in 2001 and served as the Chair of MAV from 2004 to 2016. Stefan was an immensely loved respected, and admired member of our community who believed deeply in multiculturalism.
Stefan held leadership roles within broader Australian and Ukrainian communities including the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations, Ukrainian World Congress and Ukrainian School Council of Victoria. He served as a principal of the Ukrainian Community School in North Melbourne for 17 years. Past MAV leaders remember his awe-inspiring ability to go toe-to-toe with government and other stakeholders to increase the organisation’s profile and funding. A legacy that reflects his enormous spirit and selfless dedication to social cohesion.
MAV offers our deepest condolences to Anastasia, his children Peter and Theresa, and all his family, including Natalia and Michael Moravski.
MAV is pleased to announce the co-opting of Patrizia Fimiani and Sneha Varma as Board Directors.
Patrizia has over 25 years’ experience across the Australian and New Zealand events sector. With an extensive portfolio of delivery across major, high value, public facing events such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup, White Night, RISING, ALWAYS LIVE, Moomba, New Years Eve, Melbourne Music Week.
Sneha has an extensive background in the arts, holding a Master of Arts and Cultural Management. Sneha served as MAV's Marketing Coordinator from 2017 - 2023, and is currently the Senior Communications Officer at VACCHO, the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.
